The K1 Program (previously known as Junior Kindergarten) is available for students who are eligible for kindergarten but choose to wait another year. Students in the K1 program attend 5 days per week. In addition to experiences similar to the preschool programs, K1 will include experiences to support the children's development of emotional and social habits that will prepare them for kindergarten. Pre-reading and math, as well as communication skills, will be incorporated. Learning how to follow directions, to complete individual tasks, and to develop skills for kindergarten will also be included.
Students in the kindergarten program attend 5 days per week. Kindergarten students learn language arts, religion, soical studies, science, and math. Students also attend weekly music, library, gym, technology, and art classes. The kindergarten program is the first year students are introduced to the curriculum that will accompany them through their K-6 years at Xavier.
