This year our teachers are teaching Social Emotional Learning/Guidance lessons in their classrooms using the Random Acts of Kindness website.

Preschool through 6th grade teachers complete one lesson each month that corresponds to the six core kindness concepts:
We have designated a month for each concept, so every classroom is working on the same concept at the same time. The lessons integrate acts of kindness with the development of social and emotional skills.
Hello! I am Shawna Marin, the new school-based therapist with Life Connections. I have been a school-based therapist for the past 3 years and really enjoy being able to connect with students and staff within the school setting. I typically work with children ages 4 to 18 and have experience in individual, group, and family therapy. Modalities that I typically utilize within therapy include cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, play therapy techniques, strengths-based, and attachment theory.
The role of the Student Support Coordinator (SSC) is to determine which students have social-emotional needs, and what their exact needs are. The SSC will work with the student, teachers, parents, AEA staff, and our Life Connections therapist to determine strategies to help the students develop the coping skills they need to succeed.
